Getting It Right: How Digital Journalists Can Address the Media Accuracy Crisis

February 26, 2015 @ 6:30 am - 8:00 pm

Corrections

Rolling Stone magazine’s recent retraction of parts of its story on an alleged rape at the University of Virginia has focused attention on media accuracy. REGISTER NOW to explore the problem at CUNY J-School on Thursday, Feb. 26. NYCity News Service Director Jere Hester and Vocativ Managing Editor Markham Nolan will lead workshops on real world technologies, skills, and procedures that can help journalists avoid career-ending mistakes despite less editing, the demands of 24/7 news cycles, and the end of traditional fact checking in most newsrooms.

Join the discussion with experts from Regret the Error author Craig Silverman and Storyful’s David Clinch to former New York Times Research Editor Barbara Gray and DNAInfo’s Rosa Goldensohn. Doors open at 6 pm. The program will run from 6:30 – 8 pm, with a reception and networking to follow.
